SolarBuddy “In 2025, millions of students will still study by candlelight, while their mothers and sisters will spend hours gathering firewood instead of learning or earning. That’s especially true in West Africa, where only 30 % of the population has electricity, mostly in cities. In rural areas it drops as low as 5 %.

That’s why I’m proud to see SolarBuddy team up with the Lena Marshall Foundation to bring solar to classrooms on the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique in the Caribbean and in West Africa, Liberia and Sierra Leone, giving students the light they need to learn, grow, and carve out a better future.” Simon Doble - Founder & Chair - SolarBuddy

Through this initiative, LMF will serve as a distribution partner, ensuring that all items reach school children in need.

LMF is looking to raise £3000 towards this initiative. This amount raised will go towards our logistics on the ground to include volunteer’s stipend, vehicle rental, feeding of our volunteers, accommodation for overnight stays during the distribution.

Any support towards our £3,000 target would underscore everyone’s commitment to supporting initiatives that boost national pride and will have a substantial impact on the education of our children living in Liberia, Sierra Leone (West Africa) and on the Caribbean islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

The impact of reliable solar solutions delivered directly into the hands of children to enhance their education and empower their future. A true example of the Sustainable Development Goal 17, partnerships for the goals.

We hope you’re able to contribute to our cause and we thank you for your consideration.
